METHODS TO
REQUEST REPEAT MEDICATION |
Please allow up to two working days
for your prescription to be
prepared. This is the time it takes
us at the Health Centre. If
you have your prescription delivered
to the chemist, please remember it
will take them some additional time
to dispense your medication.
We accept repeat prescriptions by
the following methods:
But
not
by the telephone.
Items previously ordered but not
a regular repeat
If you wish to order a medication
which you have had previously but do
not order regularly, eg. an inhaler
which you only order every few
months, please give reasons why you
want the medication and what you
want it for and the request will be
passed to the doctor for
consideration. Please allow up to 48 hours
as usual for the prescription to be
ready but bear in mind that the
doctor may want to see you or speak
to you before issuing the item.
Ordering early for holidays
In order to prevent over-prescribing
of any medication, our system keeps
track of when and how much
medication is prescribed for each
patient. It will not therefore
routinely allow early printing of
prescriptions. However we do
understand that there are some
occasions, for example if you are
going on holiday, when you may need
your prescription early. If this is
the case please indicate this on the
form below immediately after you
have entered your medication/s. This
will allow us to override the system
if the circumstances justify it.
Repeat Dispensing
is a new, more convenient way to get
your medication. Instead of sending
your repeat request here each month,
you get a whole batch of scripts
which last for up to a year. You
take these to your chosen chemist
(which could be local or could be
close to your work) and they will
dispense your medication each month
without you having to involve your
doctor. If you are on long-term
repeat medication you may be
eligible for this scheme. Please ask
your doctor or a receptionist for
more details.
We can arrange for
Boots (Ashby branch), Dean and
Smedley (Ashby branch) or Ashby
Pharmacy (The Green, Ashby)
to collect your prescription so that
you can go straight to the chemist
to pick up your medication. (This is
a free service.)
Patients who are housebound and live
in Ashby can arrange with the
chemist to deliver these
prescriptions - a small charge may
be incurred.
Please Note
- Repeat prescription requests are
designed to assist patients on
regular long-standing medications
only. All requests for repeat
prescriptions will be seen and
verified by the doctor and
therefore, only requests from
patients entitled to receive repeat
prescriptions will be accepted. If
you are in any doubt as to whether
this applies to you, please check
with the Surgery before forwarding
your details.
